Defeated Vizag MLA resigns as YSRC in-charge

Vasupalli Ganesh, the YSR Congress politician and Visakhapatnam (South) MLA who defected from the TDP to the ruling party in September 2020, looks to be laying the groundwork for a return to the parent party.

Ganesh resigned as YSRC in-charge for Visakhapatnam (South) constituency on Saturday, citing insults inside the party as the reason. He submitted a letter to the YSRC in-charge of the Visakhapatnam district to this effect.

He said that despite being treated with the highest respect in the Telugu Desam Party, he and his two boys joined the YSRC in September 2020, lured by chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's welfare packages.

Ganesh was apparently irritated by the party's high command's orders to put on a show of strength during Subba Reddy's recent visit to vizag.

"My commitment to the party was put to the test when I asked for crowd mobilisation." This is incorrect, and it is offensive to me, and it has harmed my pride. As a result, I don't want to be the constituency's in-charge," he explained.

Ganesh's resignation as party in-charge of the constituency indicates that he would not run for the seat on the YSRcp platform in the next elections.

This would surely be considered indiscipline. There may not be any suspension or expulsion because Ganesh has not publicly resigned from the party and joined the YSRCP.

Ganesh has been feuding with local YSRC leader and Brahmin Corporation chairman Sitamraju Sudhakar, who is claiming to be the YSRC candidate in the next elections, for quite some time. Sudhakar has YSRC general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy's support.Ganesh has been vocal about his discontent with Sai Reddy's and his followers' meddling in party operations in his constituency.

He recently stated that Jagan cannot be re-elected chief minister if he is reliant on Rajya Sabha MPs.

"If Jagan wants to remain chief minister, he needs to make sure that the MLAs win." "Rajya Sabha members cannot elect him as chief minister," he stated, causing the high command to become enraged.

Ganesh is still technically a TDP member. He stated that he was well handled when in the TDP, implying that he would like to return to the TDP. But it's a million-dollar issue whether he'd be accepted back into the TDP.
